After a very emotional visit to the Orphanage home, we continued to Peleș Castle which is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia, built between 1873 and 1914. Its inauguration was held in 1883. It was constructed for King Carol I. The architecture and details of this place are magnificent, especially its location on top of a mountain, overlooking a breath taking mountain scenery and a magical view of never-ending trees and nature. When we were walking towards the castle, there were a few gypsy girls selling cute little baskets of fresh forest fruits, like blueberries, raspberries and cherries. I got so excited, I finally get to see real gypsies. But much to my disappointment, the police was there refusing to let them sell their goods. So we kept going to the castle and on the way back, in a collaboration between some members of my family we sneaked money to those gypsies without the police watching and got a few of those of fresh and very inviting forest fruit baskets that are hand weaved by them. We hid it in paper bags and saved it for later. Unfortunately I forgot about them and by the time I got to them they all went bad. But not to worry, there will be more opportunities to get them later.
